Norma Ritter has been helping mothers and babies breastfeed since she became a La Leche League Leader in 1976. This training and experience led to her becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 1995.

Norma is a founding member of Breastfeeding USA, where she currently serves as Vice President and Chair of the Education Committee. She is also a founding member of the Capital Region Breastfeeding Network and the Empire State IBCLC Association. She is a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA) and the New York State Breastfeeding Coalition.

As well as offering both classes and individual consultations to parents, Norma also offers presentations and trainings to Health Care Professionals who are interested in updating their knowledge about breastfeeding management.

Norma is an experienced speaker who has presented sessions at both local and international conferences. The author of many articles, pamphlets and essays about breastfeeding and parenting, Norma is the only IBCLC to have written an ongoing monthly breastfeeding column in a daily newspaper.

Norma Ritter is the mother of three grown, breastfed children, all of whom are weaned and toilet–trained. However, none of them sleep through the night because they now have children of their own. :)
