Norma Ritter is the mother of three grown, breastfed children, all of whom are weaned and toilet–trained. However, none of them sleep through the night because they now have children of their own :)
As well as offering both classes and individual consultations to parents, Norma also offers presentations and trainings to Health Care Professionals who are interested in updating their knowledge about breastfeeding management.
An experienced speaker who has presented sessions at both local and international conferences, Norma has authored many articles, pamphlets and essays about breastfeeding and parenting.
Norma has been helping mothers and babies breastfeed since she became a La Leche League Leader in 1976. This training and experience led to her becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 1995.
Norma is a founding member of Breastfeeding USA, and was its first Vice President. She currently serves on the Breastfeeding USA's Breastfeeding Information and Resource Department (BRAID), the Continuing Education Workgroup, the Educational Writers Workgroup, and Breastfeeding USA's Inclusivity Project.
Norma is a founding member of the Capital Region Breastfeeding Network and the Empire State IBCLC Association. She is also a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA) and the New York State Breastfeeding Coalition.
